The age of digital política: Analysis of the Catalan Elections of 14th of February
Abstract
Electoral campaigns extend to all spheres of life. We live under the phenomenon known as “permanent campaign” and at this point, social networks, especially Twitter, have become one of the main axes of party and candidate strategies when facing any electoral period. In this sense, knowing the influence of each of the candidates during the electoral period that took place between January 29 and February 12, 2021, allows us to obtain a snapshot of the impact of each of them on said social network. To achieve this, the present study is based on a quantitative methodology with the use of the FanPage Karma tool aimed at data gathering. Thanks to this tool it has been possible to measure the influence of each of the candidates based on the repercussions that each of them had with their messages on Twitter.
