Between surface and depth: camera-body in contemporary Asian cinema
Keywords:
estética, corpo, superfície, cinema contemporâneo, sensorialidadeAbstract
By making use of a camera-body with connection to an “aesthetic of flow”, contempo-rary Asian movies as Shara, by Naomi Kawase; Goodbye, Dragon Inn, by Tsai Ming-liang; Café Lumière, by Hou Hsiao-hsien; and Tropical Malady, by Apichatpong We-erasethakul, explore surface and depth not only as diametrically opposed forces, but also as equally legitimate experiences that can be experienced to the extreme. These films do not separate stable and unstable, presence and absence, appearance and van-ishing.References
