Fact-checking has become one of the most important practices for today’s journalists. Although verification has been always the core of any journalistic process, nowadays is more important due to the increasing spread of misinformation through platforms like the Internet or social media. In this panorama, accuracy is the main weapon used by journalists to fight falsehood. They use technology in various ways when they are running verification processes. Social media, verification tools, databases, and content publication taking advantage of the different publishing formats – information visualisation, audio, video, etc. – had become very important tools for journalists’ daily work. The usage of these tools is crucial when we try to draw the profile of those who carry out fact-checking practices as we will show in this paper.
