COVID19: Analysis of the activity of the main Spanish political leaders on Facebook and Twitter. Do they overload the political debate?
Keywords:
political communication, social networks, COVID19, Twitter, FacebookAbstract
The world changed with the appearance of COVID19, and a scenario emerged where online communication became the central axis of information. In this new space, fake news and disinformation soared on social networks and politicians, within the permanent campaign, did not leave their activity aside. The present work aims to analyze the communication strategy of the main Spanish political leaders during the pandemic and, through a quantitative methodology based on FanPage Karma. This makes it possible to compare whether there has been a communication overload during the months of the pandemic in relation to a month of regular political activity. The results show that we are witnessing a process of infoxication by the profiles of the main political leaders, if we understand by infoxication the excessive publication of information on social networks.References
