Desire and sense in the associative chains of the subject of the unconscious

The algorithm of the linguistic sign, formed by the signified and the signifier according to Saussure, was radically reinterpreted by Lacan based on the notion of the Freudian unconscious. In this redefinition, Lacan proposes and explains why the signifier has primacy over the signified in unconscious processes, which are governed by desire which, in turn, always seeks to manifest itself through language. The signifier functions as lettre, being able to generate multiple associative chains from its materiality. Through these associations that break and go beyond the established logic of the language code, the process known as the point of capiton stops its slippage, giving rise to meaningful language manifestations that evince the desire of the subject. The present article seeks to explain schematically these semiotic processes of the unconscious, which are at the basis of the symbolic production.
