Rearticulação de sentidos em filmes de compilação: uma análise de Yellow Caesar (1941), de Alberto Cavalcanti
Keywords:

Compilation documentaries, built up by an assemblage of fragments of
sounds and images from previous works, were largely produced during the twoWorld Wars. These films aimed to get the people’s support to the countries involved in the wars (Leyda, 1964). Alberto Cavalcanti’s Yellow Caesar (1941) is a British documentary made up of war propaganda materials. We analyse how compilated images from official archives with staged shots and the use of soundtrack (voice over, dubbing, music and noise) reach certain effects of satire on Benito Mussolini’s fascist regime.
