Abstract

The article explores issues surrounding the emergence of interactive documentaries for social purposes. It discusses how the interactive narratives of these documentaries are linked to the social functions and purposes of the project, espe- cially when integrated in broader communication strategies. The author follows the perspective of relational aesthetics and uses the notion of creative device as a way of reflecting on the issues pointed out. The article concludes with the discussion of the issues concerning the design and development of the interactive documentary Ilha Grande; cada playa, una isla; cada isla, una historia.
