O som do documentário experimental do Free Cinema: ruptura e tradição
Abstract
This article examines the sound of experimental documentaries from the Free Cinema movement, engendering aspects of the documentary contingencies and trends that preceded and succeeded it. By analyzing the context, the transition from the so-called classical to modern documentary practices is highlighted, especially with regard to the aesthetics and ethics of sound practice. Through case studies of the main Free Cinema films, the text seeks to elucidate how these works, while prefiguring sound trends and strategies of subsequent decades, also brought to light the historical contingencies of documentary making that preceded them.
