Abstract
Elizabeth Teixeira is the main character in Eduardo Coutinho's filmography. Militant of the Peasant Leagues, her leading role was elaborated in Cabra marcado para morrer (1984). The exile forced by the military coup (1964) brutally separated her from ten of her children for 17 years. In this article, we propose to approach the filmic appearances of her daughters and granddaughters, in order to examine whether and how, in the stories of these women, the patriarchal oppressions suffered by Elizabeth are updated, but also her struggles and resistances.
