Prostitutes, feminists and unusual alliances in women's cinema (1977-1994)
Abstract
This article aims to investigate how the so-called Brazilian “women’s cinema” approached sex work, considering its emergence in the 1970s and 1980s, together with feminisms themselves and the prostitute’s movement in Brazil. Based on a mapping effort, we will discuss historical and representational strategies that allowed the existence of possible alliances between filmmakers and whores.
